Long before we gearheads were allowed behind the wheel of any vehicle, we were hooked on scale versions of our favorite cars. I was no exception. Over the years and into adulthood, I remained a fan and hobbyist. As I grew older, I became bored with the choices we were given by model manufacturers.
Through the modeling community, I learned about resin kits available through outlets such as the Modelhaus. Not able to leave well enough alone, I decided to try my hand at creating "masters" and casting them in resin. With the help of a few established resin-casters, I was able learn and improve my technique.
I created a few Pontiacs that either never existed in kit form or were tough to find. I also mastered the 1:18th scale 8 lug as soon as the first die-cast 1962 Catalinas became available. I discontinued those items when I learned that the 1962 die-cast Grand Prixs would have 8 lugs, assuming there would be no interest in my versions. Upon receipt of my die-cast 1962 Grand Prix, I much preferred the depth and accuracy of my version and learned other hobbyists felt the same way.
